The other day, Jax had his second appointment at Kids & Teens Dentistry in Bells Corners. His first was just before he turned two. He was a bit too young for a cleaning but they did a full oral exam. Today’s appointment at 3 ½ years old consisted of an exam and full cleaning.
Rewind to his first appointment. I thought it would be a disaster. Kids are scared of the dentist no? Even adults! Let me tell you this place is like Disneyland! They are pediatric dentists and they are AMAZING. Your kids won’t even want to leave the waiting room. They have all sorts of games and toys for, well, kids and teens……a baby toddler area with a house, train table, baby toys etc. There are video games, a treehouse with a TV and much more.
When they call your name for an appointment you follow the hygienist through the clinic over a little bridge passing all sorts of wonderful themed rooms until you get to yours. They ask you what show you want to watch on the ceiling and the options are endless! Jax chose SpongeBob first and this time Minions.
He was perfectly still and a total champ the whole time, both times. When the appointment is over, they give you your typical goodie bag with toothpaste, toothbrush etc. and you get a little token to choose a toy in the little vending machine and a balloon. It doesn’t get much better than this for a kid! And, he starts with healthy teeth at a young age. Now that Hudson is 17 month’s I’m going to book his appointment, but you can start as early as one year old.
I highly recommend this place and am so glad my friend recommended it to me! A good first impression of a dentist will set them up well for dental hygiene their whole life. The early visit is critical to ensure there is proper jaw development, that the teeth are coming in at the right time, check for decay and screen for oral diseases etc.
