All I can say is that 2018 is going to be hard to beat!
My little monkeys turned 1 and 3 (in January and February) so we had two birthday parties for them back-to-back. Normally I would do their birthdays together since they are only 2 weeks apart, but you only turn 1 once, so we wanted Hudson to have his own milestone celebration!
2018 was amazing for me in particular because I became a stay at home mom! It’s funny because this was never in my plans. I naturally just went back to work after I had Jax, and I’m sure most of you working moms know that working is actually less work than at home. For me it was anyway, I felt like I could kick up my feet lol. I still remember vividly though racing home after work to snuggle my little man.
As a home Sales Representative unfortunately there was not much inventory left to sell at the time of my planned return from my second mat leave. I started with an extended leave but then ultimately decided that work wasn’t where I wanted to be. I feel extremely thankful that I can stay at home – and my kids and husband also love it! Who knows what lies ahead, but I don’t have any plans to return to work any time soon. I must say this is the best job I’ve ever had – but with two tough little bosses!
By the grace of God, my mother survived a terrible accident in 2018. I tell you there was a guardian angel with her on that day. She lost control on a terrible road in bad weather and her car flipped over in a ditch. Leave it to my mom to be hanging upside down and flirting with the firefighters when they arrived! Also, leave it to my mom to be stubborn and not go to the hospital but the liquor store instead. Lucky for her she walked away with barely a scratch. You never know when it’s going to be your last day, and thank god it wasn’t hers.
In April, we went on a family vacation to Mexico with some amazing friends for their wedding. It turned into a family affair when my mother and mother-in-law joined us. Jax even got to be in the wedding which made it even more special. Read more about our first time travelling with kids, here.
In July, I started this blog! So exciting. My friends have told me I should start a blog forever and I kept fluffing it off until more and more people suggested it based on all the adventures I was doing with the kids. I have a degree in Communications and Marketing and truly love to write. I’m having so much fun sharing my stories with everyone and have met some really fantastic individuals through this journey! Thank you for reading, and being a part of it.
In the summer, we also had our first big kid injury when poor Jax broke his tibia AND fibula while jumping on a trampoline. The silver lining was that he got spoiled with gifts galore and treats once the pain wore off. He was such a trooper and completely resilient, just the way kids are built!
His cast came off JUST in the nick of time before we headed out for a road trip to visit my sister in New Jersey. We usually stay overnight about half way to break up the drive and Jax loves staying in hotels so it makes a fun little getaway for all of us. Shortly after that, we took another little family vacation to a beautiful paradise just outside of Mont Tremblant, Quebec. We travelled with my mother and her partner, and I’m so happy that we can experience these amazing life adventures together as a family.
In between all those things, you could find us gallivanting to parks, summer fairs, play places, museums and more. Just a day in the life of a mommy that can’t sit still and her rambunctious boys that need hamster wheels! Fall was definitely our favourite season for activities – full of pumpkin patches and apple orchards!
Jax will start school this September which is just crazy to think about. But I plan to have some nice quality time with Hudson and focus on getting him into all the cool activities that Jax has been fortunate to participate in.
I’m so grateful for the past year, and with so much already planned for 2019, I can’t wait to share more adventures with you. Please share what you’d like to see me cover, I always love hearing from you.
